Live site: http://www.jonmaxsonphotographs.com/
Jon Maxson, an up and coming photographer, approached me for branding design work, as well as for building a site to sell his work. He wanted something very clean and simple that would highlight his work.
In the visual branding, I wanted to highlight his name, as well as attempt to convey his style, which tends towards the abstract with a very contemporary look. We went for a simple logo that relies on the always gorgeous Futura.
The site was designed to perform the functions of a gallery: provide a space within which the art can shine. This was accomplished by using a neutral gray that allows Jon's unique style to shine. The strong grid gives the site a visual slickness that is very modern and appropriate to the photos.
The site was built as a customized WordPress theme, relying on a couple of plugins to provide the photoblog functionality. Gallery creation is handled by the custom theme along with tags and categories applied by the client.
The client had prior experience with WordPress, and so had no problems taking over managing the site content after launch.
